KENYA BROADCASTING KBC TO LAUNCH HERITAGE  CHANNEL
The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation KBC will soon launch Heritage channel  as we switch from Analogue to Digital.
The new channel will showcase  KBC old progammes in the achieves which are rich in culture its chief radio producer Bili Odidi told workshop in Nairobi recently
Odidi  was speaking at the German Culture Center in Nairobi during workshop organized by Prof Mbugua wa Mungai from Kenyatta University in . Nairobi and Dr Adrew .J. Etsemberg from University of Oxford with support from Goethe Institute Kenya and European Research Councils music Digitization
In his paper title from Analogue to Digital. the impact of the  changing Formats on Traditional Radio and TV journalism Odid said that local journalism and editor will find it difficult in news gathering when it comes to the social media which is becoming the major source of news in the modern society
He said that under the new format news gathering and.editors must be careful when dealing with social medias who are not experienced without journalistic knowledge giving example of the former nation media NTV news editor who was sacked for killing former Minister the late Njenga Karume before  the official announcement of his death.
He said that the former NTV editor announced the death of the Minister after receiving information from the social media which is very dangerous
Odidi said that even though local station lead by KBC are ready for the change journalist and editors need to change with time for the better.
KBC had  already brought new equipment ready to switch to new  era which will change the traditional broadcasting for ever both on radio and TV meaning that views will also enjoy program me under digital.
Apart from KBC other private station are gearing up  ready to switch to digital which the majority thought that will be more expensive but easy to work on because both reporters and broadcasters will no longer carry heavy equipment while on the duty.
Instead Odidi   told Kenyans that it is not the end of old program mes 0f 60 and late  90s because they will be part of the new channel Heritage which will vividly proved that KBC is number one national station
The one day workshop was also addressed by Dr Andrew who  head music and the oxford University among others
There had been national outcry that KBC had been taken over by the upcoming private and FM station which employed  journalist without  experience and comedians.
