Macmillan Memorial Library in Nairobi in danger due to poor management by city council of Nairobi


Macmillan memorial Library one  of  the  oldest in  East  Africa is  in  danger duee  to  poor management  by the  city  council of Nairobi.
Established througjh cap 217 of 1931 and  the city  council took  over  in 1962 and the  name  changed to  city  council Library service
Macmillan Library is  poorly managed by  the broke city  council of  Nairobi  unable  to  provide it  with  modern facilities  including  online
The Library  was closed in  June  last  year  for  renovation and  there  is  no  communication  from  city hall when  it  will  open, the  front  gate  had  been  turned  into  parking  by  city  hall  car attendance  who  pocket the  fee.
Macmillan  being  the  biggest  in Sub  Sahara and  the  second  largest  in  Africa to  Alexandria  in  Egypt is at  risk because city  hall  in  no loner buying  new books and  modern  facilities  including photo coping  machine not  only  that the  Library  is  not  online.
Source  told media  that city  hall  had  not provided money  for  renovation and the  council  is  loosing  millions  of  shilling  because researchers  and  students no longer  use it and  the  day  when  it  will open  is  unknown
