SCHOLARS AND MEDIA PERSONALITIES WANTS KENYA MEDIA OWNERS NAMED
Media personalities and Scholars wants vernacular radio station in the Country to start at list programmers in Kiswahili for those who don't understand mother tongues
Lead by Prof Kimani Njugu and C. Nguku were speaking at French Cultural Center in Nairobi during the monthly media roundtable.
They said that Kenyans wants to know the owner of Kenya media house which are known to be spreading hate speech especially during this time of election
Prof Kimani said that under the new constitution Kenyans needs to know the owner of media house ranging from Newspapers and radio station which are becoming dangerous
They said that it will be better if the name of media house can be made public because currently politicians are fighting day and night in order to have there own radio station.
While blaming local; station for 2007 election violence they said that in order to avoid such incident the owners of media house should be known, adding that Kiswahili being national language should be given more space in local station like Kameme FM. Mulembe F.M. Ramongi F.M among others.
They pointed luck of professionalism is also another problem facing local station and newspapers because they had turned there station into tribal tools and propaganda
Monthly media round table is staged by media FOCUS with the major objective of giving media personalities and members of the public chance to air there views.''
