OXFORD EDITORS TOLD TEACHERS TO WRITE BOOKS
Top Oxford University editors and Kiswahiri Scholars had appealed teachers to write story books for use in Schools instead of depending on there salaries
Lead by Islam.K. Islam and Hassan. .K. Said pointed out that teachers can make money by writing Kiswahili books for primary Schools children because there is short of books by local writers in the Country
Said who is editor at Oxford University press said that it is wrong for a teachers with over 15 years experience to depend on other writers book instead of coming out with.
They were addressing Primary School teachers during one day seminar on how to use the newly published AZ Kamusi ya Watato during the just ended 15 edition of the Nairobi International Book fair.
The new Kamusi ya Watoto is published by Oxford University press to be used in Primary Schools in the Country and for Kiswahili teachers.
The major objective of the one day seminar was to empower teachers on how to use the dictionary Kamusi and the change in Kiswahili which is notational Language
The Scholars at the same time blamed teachers in primary School for poor performance in both Kiswahili and English language because some teachers are not versed in both languages.
Teaching of languages is the foundation of students and ones the teachers made any mistake the students will be affected through t in there academic life
Said promised teachers and upcoming writers that Oxford University press is ready to help then get published both in English and Kiswahili, adding that they will continue to stage workshops for Kiswahili teachers with the major objective of keeping them well informed
The new dictionary Kamusi ya Watoto comes at the time with outcry of poor performances in Kiswahili language in both primary and secondary Schools with blame going to primary Schools teachers in low class for poor foundation
While presenting certificate for teachers who attended Said advised them to use the knowledge in improving the languages
