HATE SPEECH
The government is working on through Ministry
of information is work in law which will bar media house from owning
more than to station.
Ones the law is passed no media house will be allowed to own both radio station, newspapers and TV station as it is currently.
Officer from the Ministry Mary Ombora told monthly Kenya Media
Roundtables that there is a need for media house to be controlled on
having both TV station radio and newspapers
Majority of station in
the Country are owned by politicians and powerful personality who are
using it for there personal gain which included picking of journalist
of there choice.
The roundtable whose topic was media and hate speech was told that both
media council and ministry is not ready to control both journalist and
media houses on the hate speech ahead of the forthcoming general
election
Those who also speak included Mutegi Njau from Royal Media
Service Wanjiku Mbugua among others from media Industry which is on
spot over hate speech.
Journalist where accused of spreading hate speech during political
rallies hosted by politicians but instead told to ignore politicians
with hidden agenda
The issues of social media was also discussed.
dirty language and gander among others issues affecting the Country
as we head to general election.
Comedians who controls most of FM station were accused of using dirty
languages and bring personal matters to the station which is
unprofessional
