MUSIC AWARD
CDM. KIRATU, SUKUMA BIN ONGARO AND KAMARU WIN TOP AWARD
Western Kenya leading Benga musician Sukuma Bin Ongaro alas Suku, CDM. Kiratu and Joseph Kamaru Macharia over the weekend scooped top Music Copyright Society of Kenya during agala night held at a Nairobi hotel in colorful function attended by top musicians and personality.
The award was launched early this week to mark 50 years of ten generation of Kenyan musicians and will become annual events according to the official of the East Africa biggest music society.
MCSK gala awards 2012 was mooted not only to award the musicians but also to motivate them with the major objective of bringing them together as afamily said Kiratu who is Nairobi Province director.
The events was spiced by performance featuring numerous musicians and groups among them CDM Kiratu and his group Nonini, Abbas Mary Atieno, Albert Gacheru among others and those who attend the events of the year will agree with me that even though younger musicians are highly paid classic music is there to stay.
While on the stage Kiratu who is also the director of Nairobi Province mixed Kikuyu traditional dance and twist coming out with wonderful dance ever witness in Nairobi in the past.
The award which was being hosted for the first time since MCSK was formed in the year 1982 is different from others given that even dead artist were awarded among others and to make events serius police officers and bus transport firm was also awarded something which other music awards giver should copy for better.
Those who also awarded included the late Habel Kifoto, Kakai Kilonzo, D.O Misian Queen Jane, Jacob Luseno Isa among others.
Music writer Steve Mwedwa scooped journalist award for his Monday piece and Friday respectively while royal Media received award for being the station which paid well and on time the same went to the redio Africa.
It was for the first time in music Sukuma Bin Ongaro scooped the award for being the musician whose songs played fopr numerous time on KBC.
Sukuma start producing his music in 50s and he still produce something which is not common with the upcoming musicians.
Later Ongaro told both local and international media that the award had motivated him and very soon he will produce his latest songs.
The events also attracted comedians events organizers and media personalities like Big Teddy, C. Kasavuli, Jalango to name few.

MOVIES AND MOVIE NEWS.
Kibera flim School over the weekend staged its open day at the German Culture Center in Nairobi with the major objective introducing both students and members of the public on what they are offering.
The cinema Hot Sun showcase offers an opportunity for film lovers to interact with creative youth from Kibera slum showing what they do best.
The screening programme comprises award winning Kibera Kid, Mututho One plus One Choices Majukuma to name few.
Kibera TV also present its own documentaries which were fantastic even though both items had scooped awards much needed to be done so that the kids can improve on there work because critic is also apart of learning in the world of modern creativity.
The last weekend events was staged by Hot Sun Foundation and Goethe Institute of Culture in Nairobi with the major objection of motivating the youth in the world of creativity.
Hot Sun Foundation is charitable Trust registered in June 2007 in Nairobi working with the youth in slum in film making.
HOMAGES EXTRA LAURA MERILAINEN
With the major objective of promoting both established filmmakers and upcoming ones the German Culture Center in Nairobi with on Wednesday screen Homages Extra by Laura Merline at 6.pm
Afinnish director Laura presented from Namibia with Love which is apolitical story which was shoot in the boutful Ovamboland and it tells the story of an old Finnish Namibian couple Anita and Salatiel who worked at swapo camps in Zambia in 1975.

KALANJINE SISTERS.
The remaining member of the famous Kalanjine Sisters band which took music lovers by storm in 90 Anjeline Chepkoech is ill.
According to her former promoter who did not wants to be named told media in Nairobi during MCSK Gala award that the musicians who had been performing in Eldoret and Kapsabet for many years was taken home due to illness.
The group was among the top selling from Rift Valley in 90s attracting numerous funs both from the area and other parts of the Country.
Since then music lovers had been wondering what happened to wonderful group from the Rift Valley.
