Often  times when we look at our ethnic divisions we say a political tool of domination called
Divide and Rule, coursed it very knew  of us actually know how this tool was implemented and
and mastered in Kenya during and after colonial period.
The new exhibition at Kuonatrust YOUR NAME BETRAYS YOU  AN ART INSTALLATION BY WAMBUI KAMIRU   will explore the origin of ethnicity using current literature on the invention of
 culture and traditio.
Key text point at tradition  as a purposely created classification of Africa by missionaries and colonial
administration much in the same way the guidebook would be written for birds.
Your name Betrays you look critically at the words streotuypes we hold of the other its roots development and how we have made it apart of our lives its looks at the effect on our  future society and creates dialogue around our present  perception of ethnicism.
The project  is founded upon, the invention of Tradition by Terence Ranger  , a key text that looks
at the creation of tradition in Africa and the application of static characteristic of tradition and culture
and ultimately stereotypes that lead to ethnic ism
