Writer Francis Ilahaka inspect traditional vegetables at his Railwaylinevegetable garden in Langata. The garden recently introduced original Luhya traditional vegetables Livogoi and sukuma commonly known in Luhya Likabichi lia manyonyi and for Nairobi Mama
mbogo Kanzira.
The two traditional vegetables are among best in Western Kenya grown at fertile place using traditional manure no modern fertilizer
is needed.
The introduction of the original vegetables whose seeds are direct from Western Kenya comes with outcry from users that
modern seedling being sold in Nairobi are not good as original ones while livogoi seeds are not available in the city and vegetables
sold in Nairobi are direct from Western Kenya.
Railwayline Vegetable Garden plans to produce itd seedlings under community seeds production and give them to Nairobi Urban farmers.
The vegetables are performing well in Nairobi without modern fertilizers and as always waste fruits and vegetables will be used to keep them healthy
