KENYA MOOT FOR ART EDUCATION


The Kenya government  had established culture dept in the   Ministry of Culture sports and Arts with the major objective fishing out talents
Speaking in Nairobi over the weekend during the official opening of Jak Katarikawe  art exhibition at Nairobi Gallery National Museum of Kenya director Dr Ahmed Yassin said Museum is working with the government
At the same time said that the government also plans to establish National Gallery where art work by top Kenya artist and  regional will be stored
He pointed out that they had learn numerous things during the just ended Washington DC trip  and that is why they wanted to establish National Gallery like Smithsonian which is the top in the World
Dr Yassin said that ones the National Gallery is over it will be named after one of the Kenya  great artist like Murumbi, Katarikawe among others.
Speaking at the same function  Kenya top artist Dr Elkan Ongesi appealed to the government to taker seriously art education in our Schools adding that art is the major pillar of education
He noted that  students who perform well in art  especially music also perform well in education.
  Jak Katarikawe is among the to painter in East and Central Africa who work goes for millions.
  During the colorful exhibition also attended by artist from Uganda abook on Jak was officially launched
