NATIONAL MUSEUM OF KENYA TO SUPPORT A FRICAN INSTITUTE OF CULTURAL AND DEVELOPMENT.
National Museum of Kenya is committed on working with community based culture groups with the major objective of preserving and promoted our national heritage
In massage by Dr Emmanuel ,K. Ndiema during the official opening of the ongoing stone talk art exhibition at Nairobi Railway art Gallery National Museum of Kenya general director Dr F..Idle said that communities based groups are playing great role in promoting cultural heritage in the Country.
He pointed out that Naitional Museum of Kenya is worried about the distruction of rock art and other culture heritage and why they had teamed up with Kisii based African Institute of Cultural and Development which is expert in stone studies.
While praising African Institute of Cultural and Development for preserving and protecting stones in the Country he promised that Museum will zoom to support them in one way or another so that they can achieve its major objective.
The stone talk which runs until 30 th November had brought together Scholars and experts around the World and among the Countries being presented included Japan Egypt Korea. Kenya, USA among others.
The talk co International Stone and Sculpture Symposium is the brain child of African Institute of Cultural and Development Elkana Ongesa.
Present during the colorful events included TARA chief operation officer MR Terry Little among others
In his massege Mr Little promised that TARA will zoom to work with African Institute of Cultural and Development with the major objective of preserving rocks which are under threat.
Majority of sculpture on the exhibition were created by artist from Uganda, Japan Kenya and other parts of the World
During the function gift shop also offering special Xmas price on stones carving products was also officiallly opened at Nairobi Museum art Gallery.
Ongesa appealed to visitors and Kenyans to visit the venue to buy items on special price as they og around the exhibition which had becomes among the major attraction in the city. and very interesting those stones were transported from Kisii and other parts of the Country.
