NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE YOUTH START TO PROMOTEURBAN FARMING IN KIBERA SLUM

With the major objective of promoting Urban  Farming in Nairobi National Youth Service had embarked on plating Suku wiki in Kibera slum.

The project involved youth planting Sukuma in bags  at every open space in Kibera slum  which is the biggest in this region.

 Apart from planting at open space  they are also planting for those with open space in order to boost vegetable production in the area.

The project is likely going to  take over sic month six and during that period every open space in Kibera slum will be covered and not onl;y becomes green but produce its own  vegetables.

Apart from planting Sukuma fish pod had started in the slum which means the area will   soon produce its own fish both for domestic use and for sale.

Fish pod   was  mooted by President Uhuru Kenyatta himself when he visited the slum  with the high numbers of youth without jobs
