Fake pirated set books are reported to be selling on Nairobi backyard and other parts of city slums.
Among
the books being targeted included the late Prof Francis Imbugus
Betrayal in the City and Prof Ken Wilboras Kiswahiri books.
The major market which is the den of fake set books are Kibera
and Kawagware were books hawkers are cashing with out the knowledge of
parents.
According to parents who talked to the press fake books are poorly packed some with missing pages.
Early this years police raided printing press in the city River
road suspected to be the venue of copying re printing and
distributing of fake books by Prof Imbuga and Ken Walibora but no
serious action had taken against him.
Thsoe are just few example of the writers who are being targeted by fake books dealers.
Publishers
and writers are worried that unless action is taken the government will
zoom to lose millions of shillings through tax because fake text
books dealers are not paying tax
